Since this was the week of Fifty Shades Darker, I was very inspired from the dinner date sequence of the movie (*wink* *wink*) and kept wondering what the infamous couple could have had for dessert. And the first thing that came to my mind was this "Date Night Trifle". It's absolutely easy to make, whether you wanna make everything from scratch or use store-bought ingredients to create something delicious in a matter of a few minutes. Enjoy this gorgeously beautiful and scrumptiously tasty dessert with your loved one, or better yet, have all by yourself.

Ingredients:
Lemon Sponge Cake:
1 cup plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup caster sugar
150 gm butter (room temperature)
3 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp hot milk
1 tbsp lemon zest
Juice of 1 lemon
* This, or just buy a lemon pound cake from a nearby store and you're good to go

Strawberry Cream:
100 ml double cream
1/2 cup chopped strawberries
2 tbsp strawberry syrup (Optional)
Garnish:
Chopped strawberries (as much as you like)
A gentle dusting of cocoa powder

Directions:
1. Beat the butter and sugar together for a minute or so. Add the eggs one at a time and beat well while doing so.
2. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt and lemon zest together in a separate bowl.
3. Mix all the dry ingredients in the butter and sugar mixture. add the milk and the lemon juice and lightly mix them in the sponge batter with a spatula. add a little bit more milk if the batter seems a bit too thick for you.
4. Put the mixture in a wide square tin and bake it for 40 minutes in a 170 degrees C oven.
5. When ready, leave it to cool.
6. Beat the cream until soft peaks with the syrup. Add the chopped strawberries.
7. Once the cake is cooled, cut it into tiny squares (or whichever shape you may like) and assort them in a glass putting the sponge squares first. Layer the cream and garnish with strawberries and repeat.
8. Once done, gently dust with cocoa powder.
(If you're buying the cake from outside, just jump to the 6th step and whip up this delicacy)
Now you enjoy this trifle and I'm gonna go finish up the movie :D

Happy Baking!!! <3
