Sugar For Your Soul

Have you ever procrastinated over something so much that as time went by, it felt more like a responsibility than a casual chore to be completed? If you relate to this, you will certainly get my aspirations behind this food blog. Although I don’t want to call it a food blog per se, it’s more like an invitation for all of you to come stare into my soul. Yes, I do believe my soul is made of freshly baked cookies, citrusy loaf cakes, alluring cheesecakes, delectable muffins, scrumptious soufflés and all things sweet and sometimes a little savory (Trying a little to make you like me. Is it working? No? .... Okay).
From here on, I’ll be posting the recipes of dishes that I’ve created, tried and tested and can swear by in this little space that seems like my heaven now. All recipes in this blog are what I’ve been cooking for myself and for all the lucky people around me. I have discovered that nothing says “love” or “care” better than cooking a meal or two for your loved ones. And you can literally fill your empty heart with elation and absolute bliss with the smile you see when you present them with something sweet. Ah how I love those joyful moments!
Food, actually desserts, to be precise, has always been somewhat of a weakness to me. Whatever the occasion or excuse maybe, I have almost always utilized opportunities to whip up something sugary. From buying a block of butter at the department store to hearing the oven beep, letting you know your creation is ready to be served, I draw happiness from every little step. When I make desserts, I am absolutely immersed in the modest rituals like whisking, folding, stirring, tasting and losing myself in the world of flavor, sensation and everything else that comes with it. And I certainly believe that if you can be content with such simple things in life, then lucky you!
Nigella Lawson (Role model is an understatement for what she is to me) mentions in her latest book, “But, of course, it also necessarily tells the broader story of how I live: how I feed my friends and family, the aesthetic pleasure I derive from food, and my belief that what and how we cook can make our lives easier, make us feel more alive, and connect us to ourselves, to others, and the world”. I could not agree more!
So, without further ado, I welcome you all to “SUGAR FOR YOUR SOUL“and hope you enjoy reading and making the recipes as much as I have loved sharing them with you.
